UEFA excludes referee Urs Schnyder after controversial Poland-Romania match

UEFA has decided not to delegate Swiss referee Urs Schnyder to any matches during the fourth round of the Nations League following a controversial performance in the Poland vs. Romania match. The decision follows a game in Warsaw where Romania suffered a 6-0 defeat.

The controversy centered on a decision made 22 minutes into the match, when Schnyder issued a direct red card to Romanian defender Radu Drăgușin and awarded a penalty to Poland after a challenge involving Robert Lewandowski. While some argue the decision had regulatory merit, former referee Cristi Balaj criticized the officiating, describing the decisions as erroneous and the performance as unacceptable.

Romania struggled to maintain control after being reduced to ten men, ultimately conceding six goals to Poland.
