UEFA fines CSKA Sofia €50,000 and bans ticket sales after Nazi salute incident

UEFA imposed a €50,000 fine on Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia following Nazi‑salute gestures and violent behaviour by its supporters during the Europa League qualifier against Derry City on 16 July. The incident caused a 15‑minute match delay and required police intervention. In addition to the monetary penalty, the governing body prohibited CSKA Sofia from selling tickets to its fans for the club’s next away European fixture in Azerbaijan and issued a conditional two‑year match suspension that will become active only if further violations occur. The disciplinary decision also required CSKA Sofia to cover repair costs to the venue, while Derry City was fined €20,000 for organisational shortcomings and a club official was fined €5,000 for misconduct.
