UEFA introduces new Champions League draw rules and format

UEFA has implemented new draw regulations for the Champions League to prevent the same fixture from occurring at the same stadium with the same home team for three consecutive seasons. This rule aims to stop repeated patterns of home fixtures across three campaigns without preventing clubs from meeting entirely; it specifically targets the combination of the opponent, the venue, and the home-team designation.

Following the league-phase draw in Monaco, the competition has transitioned to a Swiss-system format where each of the 36 clubs faces eight opponents, playing four matches at home and four away. The draw has resulted in challenging schedules for several major clubs. For instance, Paris Saint-Germain is paired with Barcelona and Manchester City, while Bayern Munich faces Arsenal and Atlético Madrid. Real Madrid is set to face Inter Milan, and Manchester City will host PSG and travel to Barcelona.
