UEFA distributes 31.5 million euros to clubs for Nations League player releases

UEFA has begun distributing 31.5 million euros to 611 football clubs across Europe as part of the UEFA Club Benefits Programme. This payment compensates clubs for releasing players to participate in the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League.

Under the current agreement between UEFA and the European Football Clubs (EFC), clubs receive 3,845 euros for every eligible player included in a matchday squad for Nations League or Euro 2028 qualifying matches. For the final Euro 2028 tournament, compensation will transition to a per-player, per-day rate.

This initial payout is part of a larger 104 million euro fund allocated for the 2024/25 and 2026/27 Nations League cycles and Euro 2028 qualifiers. Over the entire cycle leading to Euro 2028, UEFA expects to distribute a total of 244 million euros to clubs. German club RB Leipzig is set to receive the highest single share, approximately 353,000 euros, after releasing 16 players for international duty.
