UEFA sanctions RC Lens supporters following pyrotechnic incidents
UEFA has imposed disciplinary sanctions on RC Lens following the use of flares and pyrotechnics by supporters during a Champions League match against Club Brugge. The disciplinary body has banned Lens fans from purchasing tickets for the club's upcoming away match against RB Leipzig in Germany.
In addition to the travel ban, the club has been fined 80,000 euros. UEFA also issued a second travel ban with a suspended sentence, which could be activated if further incidents occur. The decision follows repeated misconduct, including similar pyrotechnic use during a previous victory against Slavia Prague.
The sanctions come at a difficult time for the French club, which currently sits 27th in the Champions League league phase with three points.
