UEFA sanctions Red Star Belgrade with fines and stadium closure

UEFA has imposed a total fine of 83,500 euros on Red Star Belgrade following misconduct by fans during a Conference League match against Copenhagen. The disciplinary actions stem from the use of pyrotechnics, racist and discriminatory behavior, and the chanting of messages deemed inappropriate for a sporting event.

The financial penalty includes 52,500 euros for inappropriate messaging, 25,000 euros for discriminatory behavior, and 6,000 euros for the use of pyrotechnics. In addition to the monetary fines, UEFA has activated a previously issued conditional sanction, resulting in the closure of the Sector 3 north stand at the Rajko Mitić Stadium for the club’s next home match in a UEFA competition.

UEFA has also issued a new conditional measure: if similar offenses occur within the next two years, the club faces the closure of Sector 2 of the north stand for an additional match.
