Ueno Bank faces Senate inquiry over public fund deposits

Paraguayan senators from the Honor Colorado caucus have requested a formal report from the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) regarding Ueno Bank. The inquiry aims to determine if the bank has exceeded legal limits concerning the concentration of public funds, specifically resources deposited by the Social Security Institute (IPS).

Senate President Basilio Núñez and Senator Natalicio Chase stated that the request seeks to ensure transparency and verify if the bank complied with regulations regarding operations with related companies and resource concentration. While Chase noted that there are currently no definitive indications that legal limits were breached, the investigation intends to evaluate whether the BCP exercised adequate oversight.

In response, Ueno Bank issued a public statement asserting that it is in full compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. The bank expressed respect for institutional processes and stated it maintains a permanent relationship with the BCP under its supervision. The entity confirmed its readiness to provide any required information through the appropriate institutional channels.
