Ufac's Clube do Livro Amaro celebrates three years of literary discussion
The Clube do Livro Amaro, an extension project at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac), is celebrating its third anniversary this October. Coordinated by professors Carlisson de Oliveira and Maysa Dourado, the project facilitates debates on both Brazilian and international literature, bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Since its inception, the club has explored a wide range of works, beginning with Euripides’ ‘Medeia’. The repertoire has included diverse titles such as ‘Gota d’Água’ by Chico Buarque and Paulo Pontes, and ‘Mata Teu Pai’ by Grace Passô. The group has also engaged with classics like Homer’s ‘Odyssey’, Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’, William Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, and Ernest Hemingway’s ‘The Old Man and the Sea’.
Brazilian authors such as Machado de Assis, Conceição Evaristo, and Rachel de Queiroz hold a prominent place in the discussions. The project aims to foster reader development and strengthen the connection between the university and society through the exchange of different perspectives on literary works.
