UFAM to host debate on Brazilian democracy and sovereignty
The Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) is hosting a debate titled ‘Brazilian Political Conjuncture: Crises of Democracy, Elections, and Sovereignty’. The event is part of the first edition of the Cycle of Conferences and Debates in Social Sciences and Humanities, organized by the Department of Social Sciences.
The roundtable discussion aims to analyze the current Brazilian political landscape, focusing on institutional challenges, ideological polarization, and economic, social, and ecological crises. Topics include national sovereignty, universal suffrage, and the rights of indigenous and traditional populations.
Participants include journalist Rosiene Carvalho, sociologist and political scientist Carlos Santiago, historian and sociologist Gilson Gil, and sociologist Marcelo Seráfico. The event will take place at the Rio Negro Auditorium at the Institute of Philosophy, Human Sciences, and Social Sciences.
