Uros Medic scores 30‑second TKO at UFC’s inaugural Belgrade event

The UFC held its first ever event in Serbia on 1 August 2026 at the Belgrade Arena, making the country the 33rd to host a UFC card. In the main event, hometown fighter Uros Medic knocked out Daniel Rodriguez in just 30 seconds, extending his streak of first‑round finishes and contributing to a UFC‑record ten first‑round stoppages and twelve finishes overall on the card.

Other highlights included Aleksandar Rakic’s heavyweight debut victory, a co‑main‑event clash between Jan Blachowicz and Navajo Stirling, and the debut of several Serbian fighters, a record eight for the promotion. Brazilian representatives Michael Oliveira and Stephanie Luciano also appeared on the preliminary card. The event was broadcast live on Paramount+ and UFC Fight Pass.

Controversy arose when Serbian fighter Borislav Nikolić entered the cage to a nationalist song that referenced Kosovo, Dubrovnik and Knin, sparking criticism on social media. A large “President Trump — Serbia Welcomes You” banner was also displayed, underscoring the political overtones surrounding the historic night.
