UFC releases new footage of Topuria vs. Gaethje White House fight

The UFC has released 30 minutes of previously unseen footage from the UFC Freedom 250 event held at the White House, featuring the fight between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje. The bout resulted in the first professional MMA loss for the Spanish-Georgian fighter, Topuria, following a four-round contest that saw him evacuated to a hospital in Washington, D.C., due to eye injuries.

The new footage provides unique angles and corner audio, highlighting the emotional support provided by Topuria’s brother and trainer, Aleksandre. Following the bout, Aleksandre is heard consoling Ilia, stating, “You are the best, this is a sport, champ. You are a man, and that is the most important thing.”

The footage also captures the controversy surrounding the medical stoppage. Disagreements occurred between the corner, doctors, and referee Marc Goddard regarding Topuria’s vision in his right eye. While one doctor suggested the fight could continue, Aleksandre Topuria eventually insisted the fight be ended to prevent further injury, a decision the referee accepted.
