UFI Hydrogen launches 100 million euro hydrogen hub in Trentino

UFI Hydrogen has inaugurated a new industrial and technological hub in Serravalle di Ala, Trentino, dedicated to hydrogen technologies. The project involves a total investment of 100 million euros and aims to establish the region as a European reference point for the production of key components for the energy transition.

The facility, which covers 40,000 square meters, includes a 6,000-square-meter production plant focused on Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) technology. These components are essential for water separation during electrolysis and for generating current within fuel cells. The site will integrate industrial manufacturing, research, testing, and prototyping.

As part of a strategic plan, the company intends to invest 50 million euros by 2029, creating approximately 100 highly skilled jobs. The project is a collaboration with the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) and aims to support decarbonization in heavy transport and high-energy sectors such as robotics and drones. The redevelopment of the site was supported by a 5-million-euro investment from Trentino Sviluppo to repurpose a building that had been unused for over twenty years.
