UFMT to host Kite Festival to raise awareness against child labor

The Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) in Cuiabá will host a Kite Festival on October 12 to coincide with Children's Day. The event serves as a platform for awareness regarding the Program to Combat Child Labor and Stimulate Learning, managed by the Labor Court of Mato Grosso (TRT/MT).

Judge Leda Lima, a regional manager for the program, noted that such initiatives aim to educate society on how premature labor can negatively impact a child's development, education, and health. The festival offers 600 free spots, with 500 filled by general registrations and 100 reserved for social projects and charitable institutions supported by the TRT/MT.

The event is a collaborative effort between UFMT, TRT/MT, the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT/MT), and the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB). Funding for the project, titled ‘Sport as a Path and Leisure with Safety and Responsibility’, comes from R$ 417,000 in judicial fines and settlements resulting from labor law violations.
