UFOPA offers free Hawaiian canoeing workshops on the Tapajós River

The Federal University of Western Pará (UFOPA) has opened 24 vacancies for a free Hawaiian canoeing workshop on the Tapajós River. The initiative, known as Aloha Tapajós, is being developed through the Institute of Interdisciplinary and Intercultural Training (IFII) and the Pro-Rectory of Culture, Community, and Extension (Procce).

The project aims to use Hawaiian canoeing as a tool for integration between the university, the local community, and the Amazon territory. Beyond sports, the program focuses on environmental education, cultural appreciation, leisure, and sustainable tourism. It seeks to bridge academic knowledge with the traditional wisdom and lifestyles of the populations in the Tapajós region, promoting a more conscious relationship with the rivers, forests, and local ecosystems.
