UFRGS student spaces under attack, prompting meeting with Federal Public Ministry

Representatives from the ANDES National Union met with the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) to address recent attacks on student spaces and the public university at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS).

Students reported aggressions following an invasion and attempts to erase murals at the Social Sciences Students Center (CECS). The artwork included themes regarding harassment, feminicide, and democratic principles. In response to the incident, the ANDES/UFRGS presidency criticized the university rectorate's official statement as being too generic and focused narrowly on electoral legislation rather than the broader safety of the university community.

As a result of the meeting, several actions were proposed, including the reactivation of the Forum to Combat Intolerance and Hate Speech and the submission of evidence regarding property damage and other incidents to the MPF.
