A couple has reported being victims of physical assault and homophobia following an event at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). The incident occurred around 11:00 PM last Friday during the exit of a party known as ‘Pizzada’ at the university's Rectory building.
According to the victims, PhD student Guilherme Couto, 34, and model Pablo Dominguez, 26, the confrontation began when a man brushed against Couto's arm. The situation escalated when the man allegedly used homophobic slurs and challenged Couto to a fight. Couto reported being kicked by approximately five people while on the ground.
The victims stated they encountered the same group of individuals again while heading home, leading to a second confrontation when they attempted to film the men. The case has been reported to the police, and the victims have undergone medical examinations. In a statement, the university noted that the party was not authorized by the administration and that they have not yet received a formal complaint regarding the incident.
