UFTF defends 146 million lempira fine against Salvador Nasralla

The Unit for Financing, Transparency, and Oversight of Political Parties and Candidates (UFTF) has defended the legality of an administrative fine totaling 146,457,720 lempiras imposed on Salvador Nasralla. The UFTF stated that the sanction, issued via Resolution N. ° SE-3041-2026, is based on Nasralla’s status as an “Obligated Subject” under the Law of Financing, Transparency, and Oversight of Political Parties and Candidates.

The institution clarified that the fine is not discretionary. According to the UFTF, the amount is calculated by applying a legal provision that mandates a fine equivalent to double the value of unreported contributions for a first offense. During the oversight process, 21 private contributions totaling 73,228,860 lempiras were identified as not having been reported within the established timeframe.
