UFV Cascades lose opening weekend of men's soccer

The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) men’s soccer team lost both matches during the opening weekend of the Canada West 2026-27 season.

In their first match on August 27, the UFV Cascades fell 0-2 to the UBC Thunderbirds. Max Comsia scored a penalty kick for UBC early in the match, and a second goal was scored in the final minutes to secure the victory for the Thunderbirds.

In their second match, the Cascades traveled to Kamloops to face the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack, resulting in a 1-0 loss. While the UFV defense remained strong, the WolfPack scored on their only shot on goal. Fifth-year forward Mateo Brazinha recorded four shots on goal across the two opening matches.
