UFV Cascades men's soccer rises to eighth nationally

The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) Cascades men’s soccer team has risen to eighth in the national rankings following a nine-game unbeaten streak. This achievement marks only the second time in the program's history that the team has reached a top-10 national ranking.

The team recently secured a 1-1 draw against the Victoria Vikes and a 1-0 victory over the UBCO Heat. During the win against UBCO, striker Mateo Brazinha scored the decisive goal, bringing his season total to five. Goalkeeper Matheus De Souza recorded his 11th career Canada West shutout during the match, tying him with program Hall of Famer Mark Village for the most shutouts in school history.

With a current season record of 7-3-4, the Cascades are approaching a potential Canada West playoff clinch. The team enters a bye week before returning to action on October 23 against the TWU Spartans.
