Ugal-UPA demands regional diesel and fertilizer subsidies

During the 41st annual Fiesta Campesina held in Santa Marina del Rey, the Ugal-UPA agricultural alliance issued several demands to regional and national authorities. Sonia Castro, president of the organization, called on the regional government (Junta) to provide subsidies for diesel and fertilizers similar to those offered by the central government.

Regarding national policy, the group requested that the 2025 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) aid be adjusted to benefit young farmers who joined the sector this year. They also called for faster administrative reviews and stricter enforcement of the food chain law. On an international level, the organization expressed support for trade agreements, provided they are conducted under equal conditions, specifically referencing the Mercosur deal.

Castro also urged farmers and livestock breeders to increase their participation in industry mobilizations to better defend their interests.
