Uganda Airlines unveils strategic growth and cost-cutting plan
Uganda Airlines has unveiled a strategic growth plan aimed at expanding its international and domestic networks while improving operational efficiency. During a briefing with Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba in Entebbe, the airline’s executive leadership outlined efforts to strengthen corporate governance and stabilize daily operations.
A central component of the strategy involves bringing aircraft maintenance and ground-handling services in-house. This move is intended to reduce reliance on external providers, lower operational costs, and build local capacity by training Ugandan aviation professionals.
Regarding network expansion, the carrier plans to maximize its existing fleet to reach more destinations in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and regional African hubs. Specific plans include introducing direct flights to Accra and Kigali, as well as establishing new domestic routes to meet rising demand within Uganda.
