Uganda and Nigeria aim for medals at 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

Para‑swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe announced that Team Uganda will travel to Glasgow for the 2026 Commonwealth Games with a focus on winning medals rather than merely participating. The Ugandan delegation will field over 50 athletes in ten sports, including five para‑athletes, making it the country’s most inclusive Commonwealth Games team. Kukundakwe praised the support from the British High Commission and Ugandan authorities.

Team Nigeria also voiced strong confidence ahead of the Games, with athletes such as sprinter Kanyinsola Ajayi, relay star Rosemary Chukwuma and other top performers pledging to deliver podium‑worthy results. They highlighted intensive preparation, backing from the National Sports Commission and a commitment to make Nigeria proud on the international stage.
