Uganda and Nigeria upgrade hospitals with new beds and diagnostic equipment
In Uganda, Kamuli General Hospital received a donation of medical equipment worth 100 million Ugandan shillings. The consignment includes 30 hospital beds, mattresses, blankets, bedsheets, examination and delivery beds, four steriliser machines and a floor‑mounted digital X‑ray machine. The handover was made by First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga on 30 July 2026, who said, “We want to improve the healthcare services to the people.”
In Nigeria’s Niger State, the government allocated about 2.5 billion naira to procure 2,000 high‑quality hospital beds, more than 40 wheelchairs and malaria commodities, and to remodel Minna General Hospital into a modern 500‑bed referral facility with upgraded diagnostic and surgical services. Health Commissioner Dr Murtala Bagana highlighted the procurement, and the governor’s wife Hajia Fatima Umaru Bago attended the commissioning, emphasizing the hope the new facilities bring to the people of Niger State.
