Uganda and Rwanda pledge to strengthen border security and military cooperation

Military leaders from Uganda and Rwanda have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening military cooperation and promoting peace and stability along their shared border.

The commitment was made during the 8th Meeting of Local Commanders held in Mbarara, Uganda, on August 29. Senior officers from both nations discussed security issues and methods to deepen military cooperation to benefit communities living near the border.

Participants noted that while geopolitical dynamics and resource constraints present challenges, stronger cooperation is essential for regional economic development. Felix Busizoori, Deputy Commander of the Ugandan Land Forces, stated that such engagements improve mutual understanding and operational methods between the two neighboring forces.
