Uganda and U.S. tech leader discuss AI hub partnership

President Yoweri Museveni met with Mehamood Hosein, founder and chairman of the U.S.-based Hive Global Group, to discuss a partnership aimed at establishing Uganda as a leading hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Africa.

The discussions at State House Entebbe focused on digital transformation and the development of AI computing and intelligence services. Mr. Hosein, a former engineer at EMC Corporation, outlined plans to establish HIVE Uganda and ‘The Global AI Village’. This proposed initiative intends to integrate advanced AI computing centers, reliable energy, research, education, and international private investment to position Uganda as an exporter of AI-powered services.
