Uganda appoints Juma Witonze Kisekka as State Minister for Internal Affairs

President Yoweri Museveni nominated Juma Witonze Kisekka as State Minister for Internal Affairs, ending a weeks‑long vacancy after Parliament rejected Lawrence Muganga over citizenship concerns. Witonze, a National Resistance Movement mobiliser and Greater Mpigi regional coordinator for the Patriotic League of Uganda, was vetted and approved by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee chaired by Speaker Anita Among. He now awaits swearing‑in and pledged to serve all Ugandans, thanking Museveni for the trust placed in him.

The committee also cleared other nominees with dual or multiple citizenship issues after verification by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa noting that three candidates had begun renouncing foreign citizenship.
