Uganda Civil Aviation Authority accused of allowing unlicensed airline to operate
A whistleblower has petitioned the Inspectorate of Government accusing the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) of allowing an unregistered airline, PearlSky, to operate at Entebbe International Airport. The petitioner claims PearlSky lacks the mandatory Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and Air Service License (ASL) required for operations in Uganda, and has failed to pay the necessary performance bonds.
In response, UCAA spokesperson Vianney Luggya stated that an investigation revealed PearlSky Limited applied for office space at the airport to provide marketing services for Misk Air Ltd. The authority confirmed that PearlSky does not hold an ASL or AOC, does not own aircraft, and is not authorized to conduct commercial passenger air services in the country.
