Uganda Cranes coach Paul Put names 28-man squad for AFCON qualifiers

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has announced a 28-man squad for a series of upcoming international fixtures. The selection includes a mix of veteran players and emerging talent ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

Uganda is scheduled to play two AFCON qualifiers: an away match against Tunisia on September 24, 2026, followed by a home match against Libya on September 29, 2026, in Hoima. Following these qualifiers, the team will participate in two international friendly matches against DR Congo in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on October 2 and October 5, 2026.

The squad features veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango alongside David Lukwago and Hannington Ssebwalunyo. Other notable inclusions are US-based midfielder Noble Okello, defender Rogers Torach, and several players from various international leagues including clubs in England, Germany, and Turkey.
