Uganda Cranes defeat DR Congo 2-0 in Johannesburg friendly

The Uganda Cranes defeated the Democratic Republic of Congo 2-0 in an international friendly match held at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, on October 2, 2026.

Uganda secured an early lead in the seventh minute when James Bogere capitalized on a defensive error by DRC goalkeeper Dimitri Bertaud. Kevin Owusu Boateng doubled the lead in the second half following a team move initiated by Abdoulaye Sissako. Despite controlling possession for much of the first half, the DRC Leopards, led by coach Sébastien Desabre, struggled with clinical finishing and defensive lapses.

The result continues a difficult trend for the Leopards against the Cranes, who have held the advantage in recent encounters. A second friendly match between the two nations is scheduled for October 5 in South Africa.
