Uganda expands squash reach through youth programs and regional clinics

Uganda marked World Squash Day 2026 with initiatives aimed at expanding the sport through grassroots development and regional outreach.

In Kampala, Kampala Club Ltd hosted celebrations under the theme ‘Rally for Squash’ to promote youth participation and talent development. The event, organized by professional player and coach Kawooya Micheal Raymond, focused on providing structured coaching and competition opportunities for young athletes to build technical skills and discipline.

Simultaneously, the Uganda Squash Racket Association (USRA) expanded its reach into Northern Uganda and the West Nile region. The association conducted a three-day squash clinic at Awach Primary School in Gulu City, which included Training of Trainers (TOT) sessions. Approximately 150 participants from districts including Lira, Kitgum, Yumbe, and Nebbi attended the clinic. USRA President Isa Bbale Sseremba stated that the association intends to continue traveling to different parts of the country to spread the sport in alignment with new national sports laws.
