Uganda Finance Minister Henry Musasizi Advances Capital Market Reforms and Cuts Road Loan Costs

Finance Minister Henry Musasizi called on the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to intensify mobilisation of long‑term capital to fund Uganda’s Ten‑Fold Growth Strategy and Fourth National Development Plan. He urged the CMA to adopt innovation, develop new financial products, increase listings and broaden public participation in the capital market.

Musasizi also announced that renegotiations with Citi Bank and Africa Trade and Investment Development Insurance reduced the financing required for the Jinja‑Mbulamuti‑Kamuli‑Bukungu road and Jinja City roads from Euro 230.45 million to Euro 207.77 million, saving about UGX 97 billion. The ministry will now seek parliamentary approval for the revised borrowing amount.
