Uganda Minister vows no protection for corrupt Resident District Commissioners
Uganda's Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, has stated that her office will not protect Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) involved in corruption. This stance comes as the government intensifies its nationwide “Expose the Corrupt” campaign to combat the abuse of public resources.
The announcement follows an anti-corruption operation in Pallisa District on October 1, 2026, where over 20 district officials were arrested or interdicted. Investigations involve allegations of gross negligence, abuse of office, mismanagement of public funds, and financial impropriety. The Pallisa RDC, Dikusoka Majidu, was specifically named in connection with the campaign.
Specific concerns in Pallisa include irregularities regarding the Parish Development Model (PDM), missing government assets, questionable spending on road and water services, and the alleged extortion of PDM and Emyooga beneficiaries. Minister Babalanda emphasized that officers representing the President at the district level must maintain high standards of integrity.
