Uganda Open Golf Championship officially launched for 2026

The Uganda Golf Union and Johnnie Walker Uganda have officially launched the 2026 Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship. Supported by a Shs 650m sponsorship and execution package, the tournament is scheduled to take place at the Uganda Golf Club in Kampala from August 13 to September 5, 2026.

The championship will feature various categories, including the Ladies Open, Seniors Open, Amateur Open, and the Professionals Open. The Ladies Open, recognized as a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event, will begin the festivities from August 13 to 15. The event will culminate with the Professionals Open from September 2 to 5, attracting golfers from Uganda, East Africa, and the wider continent.

In addition to the sporting competition, the event will introduce the ‘Afro Exchange Experience’ at the 19th hole. This initiative aims to integrate golf with contemporary African music, fashion, and art, creating a cultural intersection alongside the athletic competition.
