Uganda Parliament chamber construction reaches 63% progress

Construction of Uganda’s new Parliamentary Chamber has reached 63% overall progress. According to a report by supervising consultants Ssentoogo and Partners, the project is implementing an accelerated programme to prioritize the 600-seat Plenary Chamber.

The goal is to have the Plenary Chamber and its essential facilities ready for use by August 31, 2027, which is four months ahead of the overall project completion deadline of December 30, 2027. Key milestones include the installation of heavy structural steel, which has now reached the roof apex. The roof covering is expected to be completed by October 11, 2026.

Main contractor ROKO Construction Ltd has benefited from mitigation measures such as additional secured advance funding and direct payments to critical subcontractors and suppliers. Specialized materials, including roofing, skylight, aluminium, and glazing for blast-resistant façades, are already on site.
