Uganda Police announce movement exemptions for National Cleaning Day
Uganda Police have announced specific movement exemptions for the upcoming National Cleaning Day scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026. During the restricted period from 07:00 to 10:00, the public is encouraged to participate in community cleaning efforts to maintain safe and healthy neighborhoods.
To ensure essential services continue, police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke clarified that certain individuals and vehicles are permitted to move. Exemptions include patients and those seeking medical treatment, medical personnel (including nurses and X-ray technicians), emergency services, and security personnel on duty.
Other permitted groups include journalists on assignment, diplomats, United Nations staff, and tourists with valid documentation. Cross-border cargo transport and travelers arriving from or departing to international terminals are also exempt. Authorities have advised that anyone claiming an exemption must carry valid identification or supporting documentation to avoid confrontations with law enforcement.
