Uganda reopens borders as Egypt explores joint tourism partnership

Uganda has officially reopened its air and land borders to allow tourism to resume, with Entebbe International Airport resuming international flights. The nation aims to recover its tourism sector, which previously attracted over 1.5 million visitors annually.

In a related development, the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (ETAA) and the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) are exploring joint tourism programmes to increase visitor flows. Discussions between the two organizations focused on developing integrated tourism packages that combine the diverse offerings of both countries into multi-destination itineraries. These packages would specifically target long-haul markets, including Australia, the Far East, and the Americas. The partnership aims to leverage Egypt’s interest in expanding cooperation with Nile Basin states and Uganda’s diverse wildlife and adventure tourism resources.
