Uganda authorities arrest suspected serial killer and cannibal

Ugandan security forces have arrested Moses Mujurizi, a man accused of murdering and consuming 38 people over a 15-year period. According to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces, the killings allegedly occurred between 2010 and 2025 in the Masaka, Ibanda, and Kazo districts.

Investigators report that the suspect often targeted entire families, entering homes to attack victims with machetes. In some instances, accomplices reportedly breached walls to gain entry. Other allegations suggest he lured victims, particularly women, under the pretense of romantic relationships before killing them.

Authorities stated that Mujurizi has been detained multiple times in the past but had previously escaped or been released. Evidence has been recovered from his residence, and investigators are currently reviewing unsolved missing persons cases and cold murder files to establish further links to his crimes. General Kainerugaba announced that the suspect will face a public trial and indicated that the death penalty would be sought.
