Uganda security forces hold recruitment drive and Interforces Games
The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has concluded its nationwide recruitment exercise, with the final day of verification taking place at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala. The drive aims to fill vacancies created by retirements and completed service terms. The UPDF previously announced 10,400 vacancies for regular recruits and professionals. Candidates were required to be Ugandan citizens aged 18 to 22 with specific educational qualifications.
Simultaneously, the 18th edition of the Interforces Games has commenced in Gulu City. The event brings together personnel from the UPDF, Uganda Police Force, Uganda Prisons Service, and the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Under the theme ‘Building Synergy Through Sports,’ the games are intended to promote unity, teamwork, and professionalism across the various security services. Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Kiryowa Kiwanuka, noted that the competition serves to strengthen cooperation among the different national security mandates.
