Uganda Tourism Board partners with CAF for AFCON 2027
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to promote the country as a premier travel destination during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The tournament will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
Through this agreement, Uganda has secured official destination sponsor rights. This platform aims to showcase the nation’s cultural heritage, hospitality, and diverse attractions to a global audience of millions of football supporters. UTB CEO Juliana Kagwa stated that the initiative seeks to use the AFCON brand to demonstrate that Uganda is ready to welcome international tourists.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa noted that the partnership is a significant opportunity to translate tournament visibility into increased tourism arrivals, supporting the national goal of attracting five million tourists by 2030.
