Uganda U20 coach names 56-player provisional squad

Uganda U20 national team head coach Laryea Kingston has announced a provisional 56-player squad in preparation for the 2026 AFCON U20 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Tanzania from September 16 to 30, 2026.

The squad features a mix of domestic talent from Ugandan clubs such as Vipers SC, KCCA FC, SC Villa, and NEC FC, as well as players from various schools and academies. Additionally, the roster includes several overseas-based players currently playing in the United States, Denmark, England, Scotland, Iceland, and Latvia.

Notable international players named include Hamza Sengooba (AGF, Denmark), Steven Oyirwoth (UNC, USA), and Jovan Kasuja (Brentford FC). The selected players are expected to assemble at FUFA House on August 24, 2026, before moving to the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru to begin intensive preparations. The squad will be trimmed to a final selection before traveling to Tanzania.
