Uganda withdraws from Invictus Games to support King Charles III

Uganda has announced its withdrawal from the 2027 Invictus Games, a decision attributed to a desire to show loyalty to King Charles III. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the head of Uganda’s military and son of President Yoweri Museveni, stated that the country will not participate in any event that does not have the King’s approval, adding that he intends to support the monarch and quash factions within the Ministry of Defence that support the Sussexes.

The withdrawal follows a formal letter from the Lord Chamberlain clarifying the status of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle upon their return to the United Kingdom. The letter specifies that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are non-working royals and should be treated as private citizens, with their charitable endeavors considered personal matters.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have expressed dissatisfaction with this classification, with sources stating they prefer to be recognized as public figures. While the couple focuses on settling their children, Archie and Lilibet, into school in the UK, tensions remain high between the Sussexes and the Royal Household regarding their official roles, security, and public recognition.
