Ugandan First Lady Janet Museveni returns to public eye

Ugandan First Lady Janet Museveni made her first major public appearance in over five months during the consecration of her daughter, Patience Rwabwogo, as a bishop of Covenant Nations Church in Maya-Luzira.

During the ceremony, Janet Museveni reflected on a recent period of prolonged illness, describing her experience as surviving “the jaws of death.” She expressed gratitude to the public and religious community for their prayers and credited her recovery to her Christian faith. She also used the occasion to reflect on Uganda’s history, praising President Yoweri Museveni for leading the nation through decades of conflict and rebuilding.

President Museveni attended the event, noting that the consecration marks a historic milestone as his daughter becomes the first bishop in the family. The ceremony included various religious leaders, such as Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God from Nigeria. The President emphasized the positive role of Christianity in promoting social values and peaceful coexistence within African societies.
