Ugandan students develop heat-therapy belt for menstrual pain relief

Students at St Theresa Girls Secondary School in Uganda's Kasese District have developed the Terra Menstrual Pain Relief Belt, a wearable device designed to alleviate menstrual cramps through heat therapy. The innovation was created as part of the Stanbic National Schools Championship (NSC).

Developed by student Catherine Kabugho, the belt generates heat of up to 40 degrees Celsius, which is intended to be safe and effective for relieving pain. Kabugho expressed hope that the project could expand internationally to assist women and girls globally. School officials noted that the Stanbic Bank initiative provides vital support for young innovators in remote and underserved communities.
