Uganda's LOC Invites Local Firms as East African Nations Gear Up to Host AFCON 2027
The Commonwealth highlighted the Kenya‑Uganda‑Tanzania partnership to co‑host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as a model of regional cooperation during the 12th Commonwealth Sports Ministers Meeting in Glasgow, noting its potential to reduce hosting costs and boost economic growth, tourism and youth empowerment.
Uganda’s Local Organising Committee (LOC) has launched a supplier pre‑qualification exercise, urging Ugandan businesses to register via the Uganda Tournament Management System (TOMAS) before the end of July. The Request for Information covers sectors such as hospitality, ICT, media, logistics and security, with procurement to follow CAF’s procurement policy and Uganda’s host‑agreement obligations.
