UGL Matera calls for job creation following Pista Mattei tender

The Unione Generale del Lavoro (UGL) in Matera has responded positively to the publication of the management tender for the Pista Mattei in Pisticci Scalo. The tender, which offers a concession for up to 15 years, is viewed by the union as a significant step for the Basilicata region.

Pino Giordano, the provincial secretary of UGL Matera, emphasized that the next challenge is to transform this infrastructure opportunity into tangible economic development and stable employment. The union is urging the regional government to implement a concrete plan that integrates the airfield with existing local economic hubs, such as the Valbasento, the Ferrandina Interport, the Ferrandina-Matera railway link, and the industrial areas of Matera.

To ensure success, UGL is calling for institutional coordination, dedicated resources, and a strategy that attracts investment and fosters new professional skills to support the local productive system.
