UGL Salute calls for social media training for healthcare professionals

Gianluca Giuliano, National Secretary of UGL Salute, has called for urgent training for healthcare professionals regarding social media communication. He noted a significant gap between the use of digital channels and formal training in the sector.

According to recent survey data, 49.8% of healthcare professionals regularly use digital channels for professional reasons, yet only 11.4% have received specific training in healthcare communication via social media. Giuliano emphasized that social media has become a primary tool for citizens to seek health information and interact with professionals.

UGL Salute argues that training should focus on scientific dissemination, source verification, privacy, data protection, professional ethics, and the management of disinformation, rather than turning medical staff into influencers.
