Ugochi Iwuaba debuts West African inspired bridal collection

Designer Ugochi Iwuaba debuted her first bridal collection, titled ‘The Cathedral Collection’, during New York Bridal Fashion Week on October 15. The collection featured 17 designs ranging from fairy-tale styles to architectural pieces utilizing sculpted corsetry and bold shapes.

Originally from Nigeria and now based in San Diego, Iwuaba incorporates West African cultural elements into her luxury designs by refining and restraining traditional extravagance. Her work emphasizes inclusive design, specifically focusing on fabrics and shades that complement melanated skin and challenging industry norms by featuring models with natural hair.
