UGT demands minimum wage above 1,000 euros by 2027
The UGT national secretariat has approved its 2026-2027 advocacy policy, which includes a demand for the national minimum wage to be set above 1,000 euros by January 2027. This proposal seeks to exceed the 970 euros currently projected under the existing tripartite agreement.
In addition to the minimum wage increase, the organization is calling for a 5.5% wage increase benchmark for 2027 through collective bargaining. The UGT emphasizes that wage valorization should extend beyond the minimum wage to include average salaries, career structures, and qualifications to prevent wage flattening and ensure a balanced distribution of productivity gains.
Other key priorities in the strategy include strengthening collective bargaining, rejecting regressions in labor legislation, and combating job precariousness. The organization also aims to regulate Artificial Intelligence in the workplace, advocating for algorithmic transparency, human supervision, data protection, and union participation.
