UGU warns hate‑speech surge threatens democracy as PP‑Vox negotiate Andalusia government

The regional committee of UGT Andalusia approved its agenda and warned that “the advance of hate speech” poses “a threat” to democratic values and workers’ rights, linking the rise of authoritarian discourse to the ongoing negotiations between the PP and Vox to secure the investiture of Juanma Moreno as president of the Junta de Andalucía.

The union reaffirmed its commitment to democracy, gender equality and anti‑discrimination, and called for concrete improvements in public services: better-funded health care to reduce waiting lists, address staff shortages and halt privatisation; increased resources for education, dependency and social assistance; and a substantial boost to public housing together with measures against speculation, vacant homes and rental‑aid programmes.

UGT also proposed cutting the weekly working time to 37.5 hours as a step toward a 32‑hour week, demanding a fairer distribution of wealth, stronger collective bargaining, higher wages, salary‑guarantee clauses and recognition of professional qualifications.
