Uherský Brod cemetery and Pardubice stadium undergo multi‑million CZK renovations

The town of Uherský Brod will rebuild a deteriorating retaining wall at its historic cemetery and add a new columbarium. Deputy mayor Miroslav Polášek said, “We have to dismantle it and build a new one,” noting the project will cost about 22 million CZK and include new lighting, water and drainage systems, and modern urn walls for up to 800 urns.

In Pardubice, work continues on the Brána borců stadium, the last surviving fragment of the 1931 Masaryk sports arena. Deputy mayor Jan Hrabal reported that anchoring elements (zubatice) have been installed for future tribune levels and that the renovation, valued at roughly 50 million CZK, will feature new concrete floors, aluminum windows, modern utilities and a commemorative plaque honoring architects Karel Řepa and his son Miroslav Řepa. Completion is expected by the end of the year.
